Joe, Mark, and Becky,

Thanks for the interest! I have managed to refine the sound produced by this method, but it's still difficult to achieve in the context of a word.

Joe's question is to the point: my glottis is definitely vibrating along with the tongue, though the sound is quite different than an uvular trill. At this point, I need to lock an actual person in the room with me and force them to produce several hundred alveolar trills while I listen and try to peer into his or her mouth with a flashlight.

Any, um, volunteers?

I read about many alveolar trill techniques a week ago -- possibly in your comments section, including the one by falco. Finally tried it today...and it sits in a weird place in my mouth. But it totally works!!! Thank you!!!

when you are doing the "growl" or "chewbacca" in the tiger method, are you effectively doing the uvular trill? I think that's where I am at... and when I try to "move it forward" in my mouth, it still feels like an uvular trill but the tongue is shaking a little too... that is.. I can still feel that my uvula is pointed forward.

what's the back of your throat doing here?
