The index is made of the sequence of letters from A to Z spanning across 4 pages, and the map of contents is two pages further, for mapping the contents of the book. I don't write in the book serially; Rather, I look for "a good place," write the entry there, and then add it to the index. The index has completely replaced the table of contents for me. The map of contents, however, I very much use. I'm also, ... ... much more careful about what I write down, today. If I can, even: What I think. No further news of the Serbian Erinaceus that I reported on, either. I envy you your wild hedgehogs...my local mammalian fauna is limited mostly to squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, and deer, though I did see a pair of baby groundhogs peering at me as I drove by the local supermarket last week. My own (actually my mother’s African Pygmy that I took care of for a time) passed away some years ago, I fear. No further news of the Serbian Erinaceus that I reported on, either.
